We Made a Headboard

Last summer. Haha yep it has taken me THIS long to post about the headboard we made
last year. I can't remember the exact day but it was a holiday and my husband had
the day off. It was many degrees high out but we were determined to do it. We looked at
a bunch of other people's blog posts the night before and kind of used them as
a guide to build our on headboard.
______________

So we first headed over to HD and got us some plywood, stuffed it in the Prius,
drove back home and started the fun.
We drew our shape on a piece of paper and pretty much free handed it on
to a larger piece of paper, then traced that over our plywood
We cut a few pieces of plywood and glued them together because
we needed to get something thick enough to sit on top of our existing headboard
Then we went to Jo-anns and got our fabric, padding, decorative nails, staple gun and staples.
We cut three layers of padding to go on top on the plywood - left a 1" margin
from the edge of the frame. Then we wrapped more padding around the whole
thing and stapled away!
We Ironed our fabric and did the same thing again, stapled, stapled, stapled!
tada!! it already looked so awesome!
But we still needed to add the nails. So we placed them 1" away from the edge
We also added two bars to the back so it would not move or fall over.
This is our bedroom before -ugh I know how sad is that?
And here's the final product! ... for the headboard at least, and you can kind of see some
progress on the rest of the bedroom...
Not bad for a DIY huh? We are in love with it!
and sorry about the tags on the lamps, we're still deciding whether we want to keep those or not
